Contemplating Chocolate Cake*

Oh the humanity!
What have I done
to deserve this?
I stare at the vessel
which will carry me
to Death himself.
Temptation is torture

It sits there
with its mocking grin
I try to look away
but my eyes become fixed
My will is breaking
It taunts and teases
and laughs in my face

It will pollute my veins,
poison my body,
weaken my fragile heart
until the beating gets
Slower, slower
'til the last soft thud subsides
Then silence

I'll plunge down
into the blackness
and see the face of Satan
with his fiery eyes
piercing my soul
Isn't sin fun?
He'll cackle as I fall

No - I can't give in
I must look away
I must ignore its banter
I must keep my will strong
Forget sweet enticement
A tiny slice of Heaven
is not worth an eternity in Hell

But it looks so good...
